Quick-Fix

What is a Quick-Fix?

Quick-fixes are for problems that you are experiencing with your horse that does not take 6-8 weeks to fix. Some problems can be resolved in just a few hours while others may take just a few weeks to fix. In this program, our customers have the option of having us overcome the problem for them or having us teach them how to resolve the issue themselves. Frustration begins where knowledge ends, so stop getting frustrated and let us give you the knowledge to overcome any issue.

Below are some of the most common Quick-Fix problems:

Trailer Loading

This is probably our most common request for help and has become on of our specialties. We do not force/trick your horse into the trailer (anybody can do that), we get your horse craving to be in your trailer. We are so confident that we can change your horse’s mind about your trailer that we came up with the “Trailer Loading Challenge.” Hire us for your most fearful horse, we’re talking about the horse that just looks at a trailer and jumps your fence, and if we can’t get your horse craving to be in your trailer in less than three hours, the entire service is free. Did we mention we will still finish the job, even if it takes all day, and not charge you a dime.

Standing For a Farrier

Your farrier is arguable one of the most important people in your horse’s life. You search high and low for the perfect farrier and you adore everything about him but does he adore everything about your horse? Horse’s that do not stand politely, can be one of the most embarrassing problems you can face. We have been there, done that, bought several of those t-shirts. Let us help you stop dreading your farrier appointment and fix the problem once and for all! Our system of training is grounded in Clinton Anderson’s Fundamental training program and will get your horse standing quietly and politely. Gone are the days of your horse kicking out, rearing, moving, and dirty looks (from both your horse and your farrier).

Bridling

Bridling and Taking Medicine

In the famous words of Clinton Anderson, “The more you love your horse, the harder it tries to kill itself.” It is inevitable you will have to administer medicine to your horse, even if it is just dewormer. There is nothing worse than a horse that shoots its head up high enough to touch the roof of your barn when all you are trying to do is make it feel better.

What about the horse that you have to get on a step stool to bridle?

Head shy issues can be extremely frustrating and sometimes dangerous. Some of our customers had been dealing with this for so long that they thought it was completely normal. It wasn’t until they went riding with a friend and watched their friend’s horse lower its head like it was submissive partner so he could put a bridle on or administer medicine.

With just a few simple steps from our training system, your horse will be lowering his head as if this was the only way he has ever done it.

Halter Training

Halter training is probably the most important lesson your horse will ever learn. We halter train all of our foals after only a few days of life. It is incredibly important for all horses, not only foals, to be able to lead by a halter even before they are ready to be ridden. If your horse injures itself and you have to rush him to a vet, you don’t want to have to worry about trying to get a halter on.

Many of our customers have adopted a horse or purchased a foal that has never been halter trained and either will not allow a halter to be put on, or they are pulling so hard, it is pointless to even have one on.

Think about everything you have done with your horse or what you want to do with your horse. It all starts with having him haltered. For many of our customers, this is a daunting task but a lesson this important, it is critical to be set up for success.

If you just purchased a horse that is not halter broken or you are tired of fighting your horse with the halter, call us today and let us help!

Groundwork

I’ve said it once, I will say it the rest of my career, “A foundation isn’t anything, it is everything.” Groundwork is at the core of your horse’s foundation. We know what you are thinking, “How does a series of exercises that involve me chasing my horse with a stick help me under the saddle?” Groundwork is so much more than that. Groundwork begins helping your horse use the thinking side of his brain and not the reactive side. A thinking horse is a safe horse, a reactive horse is unpredictable and dangerous. Groundwork can show you the holes in your riding program, help you fix them from a safer position, and more importantly, gain your horse’s respect.

No matter how well trained of a horse you purchased, respect can only be earned; it cannot be bought, transferred, or magically appear one day; it all starts with groundwork.

Many of our customers have put the cart before the horse by riding their horse before teaching them any groundwork which has left them frustrated, nervous riders. We have been able to help them start working their horses on the ground, giving them many tools and tricks to use while in the saddle which has resulted in happy confident riders.

Let us help establish YOU as your horse’s leader and create a solid foundation that can take you and your horse anywhere.

Magnets

Clinton Anderson calls objects that horses are naturally drawn to as “magnets”. Magnets can be anything from other horses, a gate, the trailer, or in many cases, your barn. Dealing with magnets is nothing short of frustrating and at times can be extremely dangerous. No matter what the magnet is, it causes the horse to use the reactive side of his brain and take off to whatever he is being drawn to. All magnets involve the horse wanting to be somewhere other than where he is and doing something other than what he is doing.

Allow us to help you get rid of your horse’s attraction to its magnet and get tuned back into you.
